You got a red X and no pic Luke
Not knowing much about German equipment, how about some hollow brass rod from your LHS? they should scale down to what you need. Carefully cut it to length, and then studying a pic of what you want to replicate, add the detail with PE fret or similar?
Cheers

Would be easier to build with plastic rod or tubing as well. You can also shave small pieces of the rod off to make the adjustment knobs, and use sheet styrene for the legs and attachment points.

I think I remember someone here saying they used a toothpick for a scope, that might be another idea to pursue as well.

Hello Matt,
Looks like an easy one to do. Here is just the scope,

To do I would use .025'' / 0.6mm round rod or heat and strech a piece of sprue. The length is going to be 1/8'' long.

Here is a detail pic with site and mount.

I have not got a box handy but did the Tamiya german weapons set not include a Kar98 with some form of scope on it?

Yes it does. The older weapon set (35111) inludes a couple of kar98's with scopes. It looks like this: http://www.hobbylinc.com/htm/tam/tam35111.htm
I wouldn't buy the whole set just for the scopes, as they're quite simple and shouldn't be too hard to make yourself.

Dragon's German infantry weapons set 1 (3809) has two G-43's with separate Zf-41 scopes. I think they're the same scopes as on the pic posted by Matt890.

The Tamiya German Weapons set, as mentioned includes 2 Kar 98Ks with scopes, and 2 G43s with separate (?) scopes...it's been a while since I used the set.

I'm just assembling Dragon's German Combat Unit Normandy 1944 & it also has a G43 with scope in it. but I can't recall now if it was on the main sprue or the supplementary weapons sprue. If the latter, any of the newer boxes with this sprue in will have it (it's the one that has the weapons with moulded slings on). It looks quite complicated & would be very fiddly to scratch.

yeah bodeen sent me some free stuff and the G43 with a strap was one of the guns I lost the scope in the carpet and I've removed the straps and filed down the strap parts molded on the gun. (I removed the strap that hung down under the gun and I filed down the strap parts on the gun itself)
