Hi Armorama History - fans!

I wonder, did the germans in WW2 cross Sweden with soldiers by train, to invade Norway?

Please tell me the trouth about this, I have heard so much incorrect about this.

Thanks Jim...

Jamal--the Germans also execute a nice airborne and air landing portion to their invasion of Norway. Unfortunately for them, the British fleet and Norweigian coastal batteries destroy a good portion of the German surface fleet. It also marks one of the truly worse performances by the British and French land forces in the European war.

Sweden has questioable "Neutrality" during WW II, so German didn;t passed overland, and the invasion to Normay was Seaborne and Airborne. If I am not remember wrong, German lost Hipper there. And the Royal Navy did some really courageous acts there, with the destoryer ramming cruiser, things like that....

This was one of the few examples of a defensive fortification actually working really well in modern warfare. The situation a few months later at Eban Emael and even the Maginot Line would prove very different.

The Swedes did sell iron ore to Germany during the war and allowed it to be shipped to occupied Norway during the conflict.
