Just thought I would share this with my fellow Big A members. Today marks the 1 year anniversary of taking off my Army uniform for good after 22 years. Just thought I would share. Thanks. "Q"

Well Matthew, I dont know if I should congratulate youor not...*L* . Have you enjoyed your return to civilian life, or do you sometimes still wish you were in the service? 22 years is a long time in.. My dad spent 30 years in the Navy and always said it was a tough go coming out..

It is a good feeling at times and a weird feeling at others. I hope that you are settling in to the civilian life. I know from experience that it is a good feeling to be with the family and not be separated for long periods of time. But I have to admit that my wife sometimes kids me with and I quote " Isn't it about time you were going on a TDY?' end quote. :-)

I agree with Dave. I got out in 1992 - not that long ago, but I find myself missing the USAF quite a bit sometimes...

After 22 years it was time to go. After I got out, I continued by training those who were on their way over so I was still in my comfort zone. Then, one day I woke up and realized I was doing the exact same thing that I was doing while I was in. Out in the snow, rain, cold, heat, dust, wind etc. Enough was enough, and I moved indoors to a computer lab. Boring as all hell, but comfortable. I really do miss the comraderie, story telling...(read lies :-) ) etc. but I do not miss for a moment all the BS that goes on...hey you details, soldiers getting DUI's and me getting called at O' stupid 30 in the morning, deployments etc.. I have daily contact with soldiers so that keeps me in the loop so to speak. Definately a shock when that first paycheck minus all those taxes was deposited. I thought I was a private again
but I am getting used to be a civilian. So this is what its like??? Who would've thought...Thanks for the replies. "Q"
