I've been using one 2 gal. I got from Wally-Mart for about 18 mo's. Included pressure regulator and 25' hose, no water trap.

Was about $79. I've seen the same thing now for about $20 cheaper plus some include other accessories.

Works great very small and portable - alittle loud.

Harbor Freight Tools has a small airbrush compressor on sale for $49. I think I would get a bigger/other one, more versitile eg... flat tires, etc...

Check out Harbor Freight - they have a ton of stuff CHEAP.

Good Luck

You might also check out Ebay. I found a small airbrush compressor there for $50.00. It was used but like new. I've had it about a year now and so far, so good.

I would suggest the home/shop compressor style. It is more versatile and can do more thean just airbrushing. As stated above, you can find them reasonably priced at Wal-Mart or the likes. I have a 3/4 HP Craftsman connected to a 3 gal. tank that I have been using for 18 years. It does it all from airbrushing to running an impact wrench for working on the cars.

I just bought a compressor from Harbor Freight for $69. Its a 1 gallon and it seems to do the job just fine. Its a tad loud, but it doesnt make my cats run off so it cant be too bad! :-)

My only complaint with this rig is that it lacks a regulator. I had to pick up one as well as a water trap. Also, be aware of your hose orientation. I ended up having to get a male/male coupler to attach the hose I purchased.

One other thing, and this is very important, Dont think you have to buy the "Iwata" hose or the "Badger" hose etc. at $25 or more. You can get a generic hose and a small adapter to make it work. I paid $7 for the hose and $2 for the adapter.

And dont forget the Teflon tape!

A few years back I bought one of Badger's Million Aire silent compressors from Squadron for around $600 bucks. I have never regretted it one second - I love it! Probably the single best modeling investment I've made since buying an airbrush...

I use a Black & Decker 2 gallon compressor. Bought it from Home Depot for $69.00 and it included a pressure regulator, moister trap, 10 feet of hose, and get this.....a finish nail gun with a hard plastic case. I can spray models all day long with it and still pump up the tires on my wifes car after she runs over the curb at the grocery store.
