I thought they'd be having a 50% off sale this week, the wife and I were in there on Saturday and they were restocking the model kits. They're carrying the 1/48 Tamiya's now but the prices on those make them less than interesting shall we say. lol One other thing I noticed (at least the one by me) is that HL's seem to be ramping up the prices on their kits a LOT lately. I picked up a Leo2A6 (Tamiya) at one of the 50% sales for $20. They're now listing the price on that thing at $57! Are they smoking dope? lol They jacked it up $17 from what it was just weeks ago, that's a bit ridiculous. Same goes with the T-55 kit, it's now up to $50 from $40 a couple months ago.

My HoLo is jacking up prices too! It drives me nuts! I've only seen a 6-10 dollar jump especially in the bigger Tamiya and nicer Dragon kits. I wonder if they are taking a beating on the kits when they go 50%? It just goes to show you how much of a mark up is in the industry!

Have y'all been able to find Tamiy M26 Pershing kit in HoLo in your area? I've searched and searched HoLo's in Atlanta area, and none carries it!

Problem is, I've either already gotten the kit a year ago, or picked one up on ebay by the time they offer it. They never seem to branch out too far in Armor or ships. I have looked several times to see if they're carrying the Trumpeter 48th scale Vigilanti kit

Looking for the M-26 by Tamiya? Lemme check the one by me as I'm almost positive they were carrying it. Of course, now that I said that it'll either be gone or marked up to like $99.99. lol

O, thanks for the offer to look for one. Please do not worry about it though. I got some info that one HoLo in the north east side of town carries M26 models. I will just wait for the 50% off sale.

I got one {pershing}the last 40% sale they had. Mind you of the 3 stores they have around here only one had it. They're inconsistant in what they all carry from what I've seen between the 3 I have access to.
I was told however from one of the cashiers that the "one per day thing" is flexible...within reason she said...that said I know who to look for...inquire this at your favorite HL haunt as well.
...and I agree with the price gouging and worse...saw two tamiya marder 3 kits next to each other...with a ten dollar difference between each- really! The manager didn't have a clue which price was right, but she gave me the tamiya mobilwagon for $20.00 before the 40% off coupon....and to think my wife says I don't know which end of a coupon to hold! :-)

..wish hobbytownusa would do sales like that...no, I'm not holding my breath on that one.

I scored the Tamiya 1/48 scale Sherman at my HL with the 40% off coupon ($16 after disc.). First time I have seen this line at my local HL.

I went to the local HOLO today and purchased a Tamiya M1025 with the 40% off coupon. They had a M1046 Hummer that had been smashed and the box was torn up. It was on clearance for $24.00. I picked that up also.

For the 1/48th crowd, I saw the Tamiya Sherman and Tiger I. So, you guys have something to get excited about too when the 50% off model kits comes around again.

The best reason I can guess at for the price increase is the price increase in oil. Our plastic kits are oil based after all. Just a thought. I'm holding off any more purchases at the moment. Christmas is right around the corner and I am quickly running out of $$$. I need to hit the powerball or something :-) :-) "Q"

O, here is an interesting incident in my neighborhood. When HoLo was having their consecutive weekly sales (one week 40% and the next w/ 50%) few months ago, I guess the manager at Hobbytown noticed its sale going down. So he had "Buy two plastic kits at regular prices and the third one in equal or less value 1/2 off" sale for a week. Yes, it was a weak attempt but I'm thinking HoLo news got through the manager.

I passed on an Iwata revolution ab....wasn't the real fine detail version{went down to 1/8" only}...nice to see they're getting some nice ab's in though. If they get the fine detail one I'll jump on it.

...P2G, HTusa didn't do that around these parts{cheap skates!}...we'll all just have to settle for the $5 off coupons where/when we get them....Oh and the once a year 20% off day - yipee!....yes, that's sarcasm your seeing, {hehe}, but it beats a kick in the....{one tries to support the LHS when one can}
