I don't know about using it as a glue, but I used to used it to clean aircraft parts. And it is some nasty stuff. You don't want to breathe it or get it on your skin. Here's the MSDS for M.E.K.

I believe You can. I know it's used as a thinner for some Wood putties. I'd wear glove & a resperator & work outside If you are going to use it.

MEK is nasty stuff, but, IIRC it is the main ingredient in Testor's Liquid Cement.
Just use the same precautions as with any liquid cement, i.e. well ventilated area.

A friend of mine gave me a gallon of MEK. That is all I use for my glue now. It bonds really fast and is super thin. I have had no problems using it.

All what the others have said so far applies, MEK is quite nasty. As an alternative, I use ethylacetate, which works just as well but is less noxious. Good ventilation always applies though....
If applied in small amounts, one can even glue already painted parts (glue surfaces must still be free of paint of course); if you don't touch it too much, the ethylacetate will evaporate hardly distorting the paint.
