I am new to this group so let me first introduce myself: I am mainly interested in
1/48 scale aircraft, but have recently started with dios. I saw on the Web the method due to a spanish modeler to amke bricks out of cork. After some time cutting bricks and glueing them to the wall one by one, I came upon the following trick to speed up the process:
I use a 2mm thick cork sheet. The first step is to cover the back with two-sided tape:
Then lines are drawn on the cork sheet at regular intervals.
A steel ruler is pressed on each line to mark the cork sheet.
These marks are further deepened with a razor saw.
Finally to get nice regular grooves, I use a cutting disk in a moto tool.
The cork sheet is now cut in slices.
The slices can be now applied to the wall structure(I used thin plywood for the wall), taking care to shift the slices from one row to another. Here is a sample I did in less than 10 mn:
I hope you will find this trick useful.
Christian.
