Several of our members took awards at Granitecon 13 in Nashua NH today. Those I noted included Carl Iannotti with a third place and out of box for his KV-2. Mike DuGay took a third for Sci-fi vehicles (TIE interceptor) and second in Axis Armor (Wasps in the Park). Dave Savard won awars (I missed which) for an Israeli M51 in Modern armor and for his work horses in Collections and a second for his Zaku-2 in Sci-fi vehicles. Olaf Kievet took a special award for best British armor. I rounded out our grou with a first for my Commanche, (54mm figures), a second for my 10" seacoast mortar (ordnance) and a third for my Apache on horseback (mounted figures.)

I swear, there must have been a judging mistake in Modern AFVs. My M51 Sherman took first there (my first First Place ever) and the Zaku II and HMMWV collection (Work Horses) each took second in their classes.

There were 70+ entrants for a total of 315 models. Armor was heavy, Automobiles were very heavily attended. Aircraft seemed on the light side though.

There was one guy who had almost 20 of the automobiles by himself.

I'm sorry I couldn't be up there. I enjoyed having multiple shows all within a short drive from home. Glad you guys did so well. I liked the Granitecon shows. I won my first 1st place award there, with a car model last year.

Congrats to the other winners.
That KV draws stares because of the size of the turret.
I had many people asking questions about the quality of the kit,and I was happy to respond favorably.
i myself was very impressed with the many older Tamiya KV1s,which were verywell done, using PE.
Al won more awards for his 10" mortar and other figures. (++) (++)

The Armorama crowd fared well, but I did not fare quite as well as reported.
My "Wasps in the Park" only got a 3rd in WWII Axis armor, not a second.
Still, I was happy to place on a very competitive table.

Sci fi was a 3rd as well, again with more than 10 entries (4 of them mine...)

And I got out of the vendor room cheaply at only $50 +- , but I did find a couple of piars of the old pinch-type Fruil tracks and some Vallejo Model air paint.

Noticably fewer helicopters this year as well, maybe I can have the Hind done for next year...
