I've never been a big ND fan, but today I am so I'll throw out a "GO IRISH!!!!!" also. I hope Penn State gets by Meechigan as well, (no love for the Wolverines either) I'm a big Joe-Pa fan.

I'll also throw in the obligatory "Sic 'em Dawgs!!!" as in UGA!!!

Awesome finish in the USC/ND game. USC going for a bomb on 4th and 9... calling to spike the ball on the ND 1 but QB sneaking it in!!

Totally craptacular day of football. Michigan State gave up a huge lead and got beat by Ohio State. Michigan scored with no time left to beat Penn State. USC scored with no time left to beat Notre Dame. I won't even mention my beloved Purdue Boilermakers.

All I have to say is GO COLTS

I think there were 52 seconds...4th and 9 USC on the USC 37 Lienert calls an audible and throws a 30 yard eye of the needle pass for a first down. After a few plays they get to the ND 8.

With 14 seconds to go in the 4th and USC on the ND 8 Lienert runs a QB sweep towards the left pylon. He dives in the air but is hit mid-air and loses the football out of bounds. The clock runs to 0:00 but because the ball went out of bounds they put 7 seconds back on the clock and the ball on the ND 1 yard line. Pete Carroll tells Lienert to spike the ball and the O Line sets up to spike the ball but they run the QB sneak instead and score.

To be honest the Lienert dive was not as controversial as it seems. The ball clearly was knocked out of bounds stopping the clock right there. If the ball was not knocked out LIernert would have scored the TD because he landed a good 2 feet in the endzone.

I particularly enjoyed UVA handing FSU it's loss - not to detract from the Notre Dame thread. Hey now I get to look forward to the Vols getting a can of whoop *** opened up on them by Alabama can't wait for that one!

The thread is about North American College Football teams. Not the Football that we (North Americans) refer to as "Soccer".

The FIghting Irish is the moniker for Notre Dame University here in the US. They were ranked either #8 or 9. They just faced off the University of Southern California (USC) who is ranked #1 in college football. That's football, not soccer.

Here in the states virtually every college football team plays on Saturday.

Growing up in Southern California by good Democrat, labor union Dad HATED USC. He called them a bunch of spoiled rich kids. Hardly communist types. The rule around our house is we rooted for UCLA and whoever played USC.

Here in Colorado it gets a little confusing if you say USC, people think you're talking about University of Sourthen Colorado.

For you Euro types, Pawel, Frank, we wouldn't know a single word if you started talking about what the rest of the world calls Football.

Was just tossing out the "Godless Communist" thing. Throw away comment.
But, I still hate those guys.
We are talking about the football that bounces funny.

I can't say I like Notre Dame or USC because they have won plenty of National Championships already so I don't excited over both of the respective schools return to sucess. What, 15 National Championships and 13 Heisman Trophy winners between the 2 of them isn't enough? :-)

So I couldn't really root for either team which made Saturday night's game that much more enjoyable for me. I wanted to see the Irish konck off USC, but at the same time I think it woud be neat if USC could make it to another National Championship spot. With the way the BCS is they could lose and still take a spot in the Rose Bowl and leave an undefeated Texas or Virgina Tech out to dry, which is bunch of
