Hmmm, to much time on my hands at the moment, and no beer to drink...(I'm at work..).
Just had one of those nagging questions pop into my head, Why are Bazooka's ( the anti tank wapon) called Bazooka's? If you think about it, it's a strange word, more something from a comic ( Holy Bazooka Batman, look at the bazooka's on that..).
Maybe it's just me...

Cheers
Henk

Ola Henk to serve you with the Answer

The weapon got it`s name because of the strange resemblance of the Instrument named Bazooka... the Music instrument on it`s part is a primitive sort of Trombone

More on the Bazooka you can find here
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bazooka

I`m glad you asked this question it is an important one and because you asked the question I looked it up online and found the answer to something I didn`t know yet. It is just a question as: What Happened with the other 6 Ups, How did they put the "Do not walk on the grass" Signs on the grass and Life, the Universe and everything

I actually knew this. Pretty sad, isn't it? Anyway, the link goes to a website with pictures of Bob Burns, the radio comedian who coined the word "bazooka" and pictures of the instrument.

Well I never...

It's good to know that I'm not the only one who's mind goes off on it's own occassionally.. :-) :-)

Another one of those conundrums,
Why do the Military use Yoda speak for their inventory discriptions? Such as " Exthingisher, fire, for the use of " or " Tool, entreching, folding " ....

I have a feeling it's going to be a long night tonight..

Simply a method of cataloging that places the keywords in order of importance for each item and allows an alphabetic sort of all items so that like major items fall together. If you lay some out, you can see a tree.

Truck
Truck, Cargo
Truck, Cargo, 4x4
Truck, Cargo, 6x6
Truck, Dump
Truck, Tractor
etc

Which is not to say you don't get some silliness out of it ...

I like the comedian Bill Cosby's use of the word bazzoka
"When your father gets home,he's going to shoot you in the face with a bazooka!!! And I am not going to stop him this time!!!!" :-) :-) :-)

Re army Yoda speak, there was a guy in my Battalion who had a really square, battered face. His nickname was "triple F" which stood for:

Faces, Flat, Folding. :-)
