I recently picked up a Trumpeter T-55 and would like to show it in a wrecked condition on an OIF diorama.

The problem is the tracks - they remind me of 20 years ago Tamiya "Rubber Band" tracks and are really unuseable.

Does anyone out there have a set of Tamiya T-55 tracks (the plastic ones) in their spares box and would part with them for a reasonable amount??????

I only paid a dollar for the T-55 kit ( I know what did I expect for tracks) so spending $$$ on aftermarket track will mightly peeve off SHMBO.

Let me know here or PM me.

Thanks

Hi Frank,

I still have a pair of Tamiya T-55 "rubber" tracks on the shelves.
PM sent.

Hate to rain on your parade, man. There are two problems with your idea, however good it may be.
First of all, the Trumpeter sprocket is 2mm wider than the Tamiya sprocket. Even if you narrow the middle where the two halves join by 2mm, that brings you to the second problem-the oversized diameter of the Trumpeter sprocket. For every nine links on the Tamiya track, there are only eight on the Trumpeter track. In short, the holes in the Tamiya tracks will not mesh up with the teeth on the Trumpeter sprocket.
One possible fix is to use Esci sprockets, which should be in abundance these days. Or, since it's a wreck, just lay the busted track on the ground, and don't worry about running it over the sprockets.

18 Bravo - great idea...lots of dust, debris and others assorted broken stuff and the sproket/track mesh will not be noticable.

Thanks.
