Hi there,

Just wonder any advise on how to insert a mini drill into a pin vise?

I bought my first pin vise from ProEdge, very quickly I realise that no matter how hard I tried, the drill will never sitting perfectly straight from the chuck. It always titled at a small angle awys from the pin vise center line.

Well then I thought I might jsut have a bad chuck in the pin vise, so I went to ebay and bought myself another 4 different pin vise. To my horror they all have the same problem.

So right now, I ended up with 5 pin vise, and none of them offer me an easy to load option. I always spend a lot of time in adjusting the drill so that they align with the pin vise center line.

So any tips or trick in getting the drill to sit in the best position?

thanks.

As you've found, there's no easy way, just tighten slowly and keep tapping the bit on your finger to make sure it's centering, it usually self-centres like this.

Start with teh chuck as close to the bit size as possible, a slightly snug fit to begin with should solve the problem.
