I've just finished watching "A Matter Of Life And Death". Isn't it strange that the older one gets, the more one comes to appreciate 'Classic' films, Classical music, and all sorts of other things we thought we never would as 'youg 'uns'?

I always liked that movie, and I watched it last weekend when it was on. When they used to show it over here they called it by it's American title, Stairway to Heaven. I was really surprise to see it being shown with it's UK title. My Mum and I used to watch it together. She always had a good cry. I liked it because it had flyers in it. Back then I didn't go in for the mushy stuff.

If you haven't noticed I LOVE old movies. I really like it when I find one I haven't seen before that is different.

I love going through the 'bargain' bins for really cheap DVD's that nobody has ever heard of. They've usually got Cary Grant in them for some reason? :-)

Well he only made 75 films, they can't all be North by Northwest or some of his better stuff.

Have you ever picked up, or seen, Mr Lucky?

I find that old films can be more interesting because they are less effects-laden so tend to concentrate more on characterisation. There are a lot of modern "block-busters" where characters are sketchily drawn & the action takes over from the plot. For this reason I (& the wife) tend to find some modern films disappointing, with wooden stereotypical characters (& acting!). I've always had a soft spot for "A Matter of Life & Death" because the doctor rides a motorbike, but though I've watched it many times I can never work out what it is, early Speed Twin or Ariel? Please enlighten me!

I liked it. One reason is having Cary Grant explaining rhyming slang to his co-star.

There are certain actors that I'll watch in just about anything. Cary Grant comes to mind, along with Spence Tracy, James Cagney, but most especially James Stewart. The wife and kids know that if we're in a hurry to get out the door I better not turn on a Jimmy Stewart movie, or I'll want to watch the whole thing.

Hehe... "Soylent Green is made from people!! Tell everyone!" Watched it the other night Chad. Reckon my mock fisticuffs with mates in highschool were more convincing
