Chris,

I have been using a Fuji (an older 3.1 model) for some time now. To shoot your models, the most important thing is a Macro Mode. My biggest problem is with lighting. But the Fuji camera works fine.

I bought a Fuji FinePix E550 for $299 and got a free picture cradle (cradle stays hooked the the computer and keeps the camera charged). Pretty nice camera.

Hi Chris,
If the latest photos in your gallery are taken with your new camera, then I need to get a little fuji too!

Have you considered other digital camera brands or is there a budget limit? I myself is looking for one and I have my eye on the canon S2-IS its got 0cm macro -- good for shooting models

see specs if you are interested

I got a Canon D60 Digital SLR and I love it.

I'd forgotten the joys of fully manual photography and what it is capable of.

Well, if you already got a camera, there is no need for me to extoll the virtues of the Panasonic Lumix FZ20 with 12 optical and 4 times digital zoom at 5 megapixals..

Have fune with it Chris..

Mary, just three weeks ago I was buying a digital SLR too.
I've chosen the Canon EOS 350D (Digital Rebel XT in US)
But I was also pondering the Oly E500. The pros that made my decision for canon were: wider availability of many lenses at affordable prices and better image quality. Did you get the Evolt already? I'm quite curious how it performs.

Cheers

Thanks SnakeEye, but before buying the camera I've read a handful of reviews and based on that and my personal choice I've bought the camera. So the reason I'm asking is just to know the user expirience.

Cheers

One of the best digital camera review sites online is

http://www.dpreview.com

Its an excellent site which helped me when I was shopping for a new camera a few weeks ago. I ended up with the Nikon CoolPix 5700, excellent camera!
