well, i've done it good, this time: i've accidentally thrown away a part. what do you suggest for making a rear rotor for this model helicopter?

Hello GI Babycakes,
using something like Everygreen's plastics, .05mm thick, cut the following pattern. I measured from the same helicopter I have. I hope it helps you out. Good luck.

Yeah me again :-)

When I had said that it was about 2 inches long (tail rotor), it's really more like 1 7/8 inch length.

My only addition to this would be to round out the leading edges with sandpaper.

Trailing edges of the blades should also be thinned down if possible (not sure what scale you're working in here?), to simulate the aerofoil section. They should have a sharp edge as opposed to the rounded leading edge.

i just called LHS and yes, they DO have the evergreen plastics (wasn't sure since I'm on the edge of civilization, you know?), so I'll be getting some at lunch.
I still have the large rotor, and i figured the slope would be similar to the small one on the tail.

This is exciting, but too bad I'm expanding my modelling skills due to making a stupid mistake!

You're right, the aerofoil section of the tail rotor would be very similar to that of the main rotor blades

Why don't you just try contacting MRC for a replacement part?

yeah, ShermiesRule is right - it's for medics.
I've got my evergreen parts and will make it the project for tonight when I'm home.

GI Babycakes,
if you run into any problems or have any questions let me know and I'll try to guide you through.

Here is cross section that some where talking about, only thing, giving the size and width it'll be somewhat of a challenge. Thats why I didn't mention it. Give it a try as it may work out. Either way the profile really doesn't stand out all that much.

Looking forward to seeing your helicopter photos.

here's my attempt at the rotor. i couldn't get the flattened center piece the same, so i used a bit of tube. I'll connect it to the helicopter with a small piece of rod.

That looks excellent to me. You have captured the curved leading edge very nicely. Good job!

aww man!! yup, i see that on my instructions- the little bar that is bridging the two blades. thanks for the compliment, too! it was easier than i thought it would be. all i can say about the guys that do most of their builds by scratch is "wow!" well... back to do the pitch control rods!

Looks good..... now that you see that scratch-building your own parts isn't that hard, you'll be doing it more and more.

Great Job on the tail rotor GI_Babycakes. It looks better than the original piece. Now that you have scratched your first piece you will be bitting by the scratch bug. You seem to have a natural talent for this. Bravo and three cheers.

Great job on the scratch-built fix-up !!!
Now that you've got your 1st scrtachbuilt piece out of the way, you can work your way up to scratching a complete helicopter.
