I have the opportunity to get an airbrush at last, but before I get it I want to check on the availability of suitable paint. So what paint is best in an airbrush? It's a double-action gravity feed if it makes any difference.

Hi, Dave
First of all, get the airbrush. The difference between a brush and an airbrush is like night and day. Most hobby paints (Tamiya, Humbrol etc) can be used if thinned correctly. Try to search the site for topics on airbrushing. I did a search on airbrush paint and you get lots of information. Good luck with your airbrush.

Erik

NB: Remember to practise on some scrap plastic before you attempt to make a masterpiece.

Dave,

There is a lot of paint for airbrushing: Revell, Humbrol, Vallejo, Prince August, Gunze, Model Master (Testors), Tamiya, etc... and in 2 categories: Enamel and Acrylic. You can ask for the airbrush paint at your LHS or where you'd bought your airbrush.

I usually use Revell, Humbrol, MM and Xtracolor enamel paint, indeed I buy different paint cause of some special color, there is no difference for me to use them, just mix them with thinner... The experience will come after some try on paper or other support before paint the model.

There is some features and articles about paint and airbrushing on Armorama -> Features -> General Modelling.

Hope that helps.
