3.16 a gallon here in town.

To tell you guys the truth, I am scared. With everything going on in the world today and gas rising, I think there will be a major display of civil unrest very soon.

~Chip

To be honest, I think it has already begun. More and more stories on the news are revolving around people who have filled their tank and left, assaulted gas attendants, even one or two gas attendants killed by those who don't want to pay $55 for a tank of gas.
Oh and gas ranges in my area from $2.93 at Flying J and $3.36 at Citgo. That Flying J is within half a block of two other gas stations; one is charging $2.99 and the other $3.26.

I can tell the gas prices are getting to people when we start taking theft reports for people having gas siphoned from their cars tank. I don't remember taking one such report in the last eighteen years, and now I've had two in the last week.

Sgirty,
What part of SW Ohio you from? I'm from the same area, immediately west of Cincinnati to be exact....Gas has been bouncing between 2.99 & 3.09 the last two days at UDF.

Chip, I don't think you are too far off the mark there - as someone once said, we are only two meals away fom barbarism...Jim

I doubt that will ever happen. Once bought, you own your own energy production system. Just too much pressure to have energy production owned by for profit businesses. To what lengths would OPEC go to insure a need for oil? How far would an Exxon/Mobil or Gulf go to ensure the the need for their product?

60 US cents per liter here at 56 Php to 1 USD. For you guys it might seem like a bargain but for us it's like the end of the world. Gas prices are relative to the cost of living I suppose but wherever we are it still hurts.

I drive a '95 Mitsubishi Lancer/Colt with a 1.6 liter 4-banger and a 4-speed slushbox. I don't go above 2000 rpm and 40 mph and I still get around 8kms per liter. I spend around 10USD in gas a week. Even with those figures I still envy those who got the 1.1 liter small cars with CVTs. I am seriously considering getting a motorbike for daily commutes but in Manila driving a motorbike is not good for one's health

So I guess this is Mother Nature's way of telling us to ditch those V8s and start walking or commuting when we can. Less cars, less pollution, more exercise

As for 18Bravo's 120cc tricycles: we still have them puttering around where they shouldn't. One or two get crushed by trucks every month or so but it's how most of the people here get around for fairly short distances. I still can't imagine how a 120cc engine can drag 7 adults up a 20 degree angle
