I would like to know if any of you guys could tell me exactly what type of trees were in the Ardennes forest? Where there pine trees, blue spruce, oak trees? Please help.

Jody, looks like a good variety of tree
These photos are from Ardennes Forrest.
Just guessing here:
oak? elm?

popular? aspen?

spruce?

maybe some tree experts out there?

It's a safe bet to go with evergreen/pine. I also believe you will find a lot of Elm and oak.

I take it they are fairly recent photos. Most of the trees look like new growth (within the last 10-20 years). I assume the trees present during the battle would have been old growth or at least a mix of old and new?
As for the types, don't know about the first pic. The second one doesn't look like poplar (at least not like the poplars I have in my yard), but I can't identify it. The third does look to be some type of spruce.
