This is just a short note to say that with 11 official languages (I think that's how many we have - but I'm never quite sure :-) ), please don't feel obliged to post in the forum in only English... You are welcome to post in any of our official languages.

Personally I can only respond in English and Afrikaans... mostly English... maar ek sal maar probeer met die Afrikaans...

It would be interesting to see how many of the official languages are currently in use in the modeling fraternity. Would be nice if someone comes up with a South African modeling dictionary.

Sadly I think only English is used, although I believe VEG has come out with a few Afrikaans modelling terms.... wonder what "stretching sprue" is in Afrikaans... :-) :-) :-)

"stretching sprue" must be one those terms that can not be described in one or two words without sounding awkward. We have discussed it as well and so far no one wants to come up with any suggestions. :-)

I got the official afrikaans word for sprue some where in a textbook. Just have to look it up.

But technically those aren't sprues around the parts but runners. The little nub connected to the part is a gate. The sprue is the tube through which the plastic enters the the mold before it runs down the runners through the gates to the cavities.

Sorry about the technicalise. But after standing most of my after noon watching one of these injection molding machines work it kinda stuck.
