Hi Fellas,

A quick question for our American members,

What is the weather like at the moment in florida?

Me and my girlfriend are planning a holiday for the first couple of weeks in september, but because of the British school holidays the price of holidays in the mediterranian countries is so high its actually the same sort of prices to go to florida!

regards

Hey chad,

Kissimee? and international drive were the places advertised.

my main concern is the outrageous US licensing laws.-21 to drink? (says the disgrunteld 20 year old )

Hi Joe:

Mid-September in the deep South is still summer so plan on temperatures of about 33.8 degrees C and about 90% humidity as you visit the Orlando area. Yes, they changed the drinking age to 21 in all of the states in an effort to combat teenage drinking. Instead it seems to have had a reverse effect as teen binge drinking has gone back underground and has been getting steadily worse over the years. I was lucky enough to be in college when the drinking age had been lowered to 18.

Expect a lot of rain. It may be great weather, but the Sunshine State is also known as the Lightning Capital of the World. I lived there for 4 1/2 years and remember the mornings as warm/hot, the afternoons as blisteringly hot/humid and the late afternoon/early evenings as torrential downpours of rain (I'd often see local news footage of people canoeing down major intersections that were flooded!

But when you get great days in Florida, it is worth every bit of the bad.

My motto for Florida: Visit all you like, but never live there. If you must live there, do two things: never put your kid(s) through Tampa's school system (I am a living example of the reasons not to do this) and always keep your air conditioner working!

Well first off it's HOT and humid. Looks like you have plans to go to the Orlando area. Even hotter and more humid.(but not as hot as the rest of the country right now). One thing that you will want to consider is that September is the peak month for Hurricanes. If you are looking to go to all the major attractions IE; Disney Epcot etc then you are going to the right place. If you are looking for the beach then you might consider the Daytona Beach area (my home). It is a lot cheaper for hotels and the beach is free. Tampa Bay area is another nice vacation destination.

Also the rain is a given. SOME days it does rain all day, not very often. = or - hurricanes!). But you do get the afternoon shower just about everyday. Plan yout things for the early morning with the late afternoon for any indoor things and go from there. The weather is fairly regular and can be worked around for the most part. ALL BETS ARE OFF if a hurricane shows up (and the rest of us LEAVE). Come on over, enjoy the sun, have fun, and see the sights. Way to much to do and it is afterall a vacation, so how hard you work at it is up to you. A few plane muesumes and the space center, in early Oct Jacksonville is having there IPMS show, so there are thing to keep even the modeler in you busy, even if it does bore the C***out of all with you! Have fun and good luck!
