On my way back home, after work to day, I had to make a quick stop at my local hobbyshop to buy some mesh netting for a turret basket on my current project. This is what happened:

Have you experienced the same thing? Only one thing to say: Modelling is a great hobby!!!
PS. The hobbyshop did not have any Mesh netting.

Thanks, that is one of the few posts I've seen that made me laugh out loud! Looking at the haul you came home with, seems it wasn't a wasted trip anyway

I can sympathize. I spent $45 dollars trying to get three small ModelMaster bottles of paint (about $7.50).

I once drove 3 hrs to a shop in S. Carolina , as they were the only ones to carry Humbrol paints. I couldn't justify going that far for a $1.49 item, so I went ahead and bought three kits. The drive didn't feel so far afterwards. Even today, I still do it, I just don't drive as far.

I have a one word answer, "DUH!" Hobby Lobby is normally my downfall. I'll go in there just to SEE what they have now to plan for the next half off sale. I'll come out with paint, brushes, matte boards, moss, etc, etc, etc.

I allso happens to me, but mainly when i shop on the internet, then i tend to wanting to get the most out of my shippingcost.
Only a problem when taking the box into the house:
She: "Oh, thats a huge box for only a single kit"
Me: "Well, you know, its mostly fill and old papers to protect the kit...."
 It“s happy days for modellers...

Lol :-) :-)!
I once went into a hobbyshop to get a bag of ballast and I came out wiht some kits, ballast (yay i got my objective) paints, brushes, and for some reason I even got some little trees. My mom reminded me those are for the railroads and I said," Oh. Yeah..." then i put it back after eyeing around for about 30 minutes and when I got home I found a use for everything I bought! Except for a slinky. God knows why I bought that.

What's worse is when you buy a conversion for akit you don't even have. Yet. :-)

And then I'll wait for the kit to go out of production, and become a rare collectors item......... :-) :-) :-)

Since there is no "true" LHS in the Nashville Area that I am aware of, I go to either Hobby Lobby or a place called "Phillip Toy Mart". My wife & I went there Saturday - just to "look" ...yeah right. I left w/2 AFV Modeller magazines, an MMIR magazine, an Opsrey book, a MODEL magazine, some plastruct, some Games Workshop Matte Finish Spray, oh and buttload of candy and a box of "Whipper Snappers" which I didn't even know still existed. :-)

Boy O boy...... I'd kill for some "whipper snappers" Now I'll have to go checking all the candy aisles looking for them.......
Nothing like a whipper snapper, and a refreshing glass of paint thinner during a modelling session. :-) :-) :-)

All the time.......the only way for me to keep things on an acceptable level is not to take much money with me when I go to a hobbyshop and leave my CC/bank card at home :-)

Actually, my wife did not know what a "Whipper Snapper" was so I had to throw a few in the parking lot for her. The Candy was in a seperate isle. :-)

Girlfriend: "how much you gonna spend?"
Me: "Thirty bucks."
*15 minutes later...*
G: "Did you find your stuff."
M: *Shrugging* "ya."
G: "So how much this time?"
M: *Meekly* "$155. But I got a good deal."
G: *Shaking head* " I wanna eat some where nice for lunch, and go to the Botanical Garden and see the new Diane Lane movie."
M: *Best fake jovial laugh and smile* "Sound great! Glad you thought that up (hurting inside)."
G: "Ya, great idea huh dumbass (smiling leerily)."
