I attended the Duxford MAVFA Nationals yesterday (Sunday), and among the many Vendors and clubs at the show (full report coming soon) I noticed this small but VERY interesting stand that J.B. Models were displaying. Remembering some of the questions that have been posted over the years here, I thought these pics would be of interest to some of younger members. Heck, I find them interesting as well!

Wow, that is sweet. As a tooling guy myself I am always amazed by the quality of the molds used to produced plastic models. Always amazed by how expensive it is, too.

Thanks for the pictures.

Great shots. Now, if they would just scale that up to 1/35, I would be very happy.

That's pretty cool, Vinnie...thanks for sharing your experience with us...I myself would love to get the chance to see such an operation...I work for a company that supplies materials to manufacturers of feed screws that are used in the injection molding process, but have never seen the molding process itself...I find the whole process absolutely amazing...

Thanks for sharing that with us Teacher, I'd love to see the process done itself. That would be a pretty interesting thing to see, we just have to get Discovery Channel to get on board with it. lol

Hi Vinnie!

Thanks for sharing these pics with us all! I thought the only place someone could see plastic kit molds was in some sort of dungeon inside a huge castle on the top of a mountain in the middle of a deep forest and once there, the poor curious guy would have been eaten by an invincible dragon!

Finally, after years of darkness, some pics of kit molds! Thanks again Vinnie for bringing the light inside our humble modeller rooms! I would have expected nothing less from a teatcher!

Does somebody know of other pictures/informations like this on the web

It obviously is not much help to everyone around the world, but for anyone in my neck of the woods (Ottawa, Canada) who is interested in seeing the molding process, I could arrange a private tour.
