MY first plastic kit was a bright yellow Aurora Japanese Zero, and if I recall correctly it was a whopping 69 cents.
I'm afraid, like my teeth, it's long gone....... :-) :-) :-)

It was a brotosaurus molded in purple plastic with it's own base. Thanks for the memory, now I'm gonna get in my rocking chair and yell at the neighbors kids. :-) :-) :-)

My first kit was an Airfix Ark Royal Aircraft carrier (if I remember right). I was seven years old and built it together with my granfather. I was totally amazed by the tiny airplanes and had to try the carrier on real water. It sunk.

Mine was a balsa wood triplane that I built with my father when I was five. My first plastic kit was a Dodge Charger, that I also built with him when I was five.

Mines were a napoleon type mounted figure and a small aircraft. But that was 25 years ago. When I started up modelling again 4 years ago ... it was a 1/35 Academy Abrams 120mm MBT.
Its still in the living room ... but my 4 yo daughter uses it as a toy!
I thought it would last a few hours, but she is actually very careful with it, and still has the Lav Tua and 8 painted, modern US soldiers, I gave her.

I wish I could remember for sure my first model. I remember a Revell Bismarck, but I didn't build it. First one I can remember is a 1/72, or maybe 1/76 Stug III. Probably Monogram, or possibly Airfix.
That was well over 30 years ago, no I don't have it any longer.

Let's see, I remember an old monogram space shuttle, and an old Jeep, I can't remember the company, and I still have them both in my room.

Mine was the Monogram Sherman with hedgegrow cutter in 1:32. I can't recall which type of Sherman, I think it was the M4A3, what I do remember is that I tried to weather it using talcum powder on a sticky base of dull cote....
I learned a bit since then....I hope!

My first model was a 1/72 Matchbox Royal Navy Sea Harrier about 20 years ago when I was 14. It was the first plastic kit I'd ever seen and was pretty badly built. The fuselage halves were held together by selotape and I didn't paint it at all. Just the decals. Remade that same kit again about 8 years later and painted it up too and had it on the shelf til 2001. Gave it away when I moved to Germany for awhile.

wow I'm going way back here (only 23 but I was building kits as a young lad) but I remember building an old airfix Liberator (I think!!!) and I also went to hospital for a week once when I was a child and I built an airfix tank - which I remember because it was a horrible gloss green finish and I hadn't a clue about painting models back then :-)

Memories....my first model kit was a Revell 1/72 scale B24 Liberator which didn't survive my little brother. My first armor kit was the old Monogram halftrack personnel carrier (it came with the diorama insert by Shep Paine), it too was a victim of my little brother.

I don't remember the brand, but it was a 1/48 F-16. I put it together in one day and thenj maybe a month later my stepdad helped me paint it. The suck part was, I had a great looking F-16 however the pilot and the inside of the cockpit were white plastic. Not sure what happened to it, that was nearly 20 years ago.

Ah, I don't like trying to paint things when they're finished. To many crack and crevices go unpainted! :-)
