Hi
Was woundering if anyone can help me out with how to apply MIG pruducts range of things like dirt, rust, etc. I've been absent from the modelling world for about eight years and thought I'd get back into it. However on reading Military Modelling I see most people now use this range of products but give little detail on how to actually apply them as they've probably been around a while. Do I have to give the subject a gloss coat first, apply the powders then give it a matt coat?? Please help an old modeller trying to play catch up.

Many Thanks

Chris

Hey Chris!
First, welcome back...
Have to say that I have never used the MIG range, but believe that you can apply them last with a little thinners to suit to help adhere. Stirred up with a brush and applied liberally... Naturally, I just happened to get in first here, but there will be replies of more quality to follow I'm certain... Good luck with your endeavours

G'day Chris,

Welcome to the Big A

Here's a really good article to get you started, written by the creator himself.

This is the article that got me started.

Welcome to the site Chris! Afraid I can't answer your question, but I'm sure someone else will pretty quickly. I'll have to watch the thread as I've just bought a couple of pots of Mig powders myself ...

First of all welcome on Armorama!

Well you can do a lot with Mig.

1) you can put them dry on the model for dust effects.
2) you can apply them with brush and the directly fix them with terpetine or something else, you will get dry mud.

3) You can use plaster trough it and you can then apply it to your model and as is it good you must have wet mud.

There are so many technics with it I don't know them all.

Hopes this will helps you a little.
