Hey guys, need some refrence pictures of WWII british rifle grenades. I searched for quite a while but couldnt find anything but a couple names (after an hour of searching).
Are WWII british rifle grenades M68 AT, and No. 75 AT Hawkins?
I need refrence photos, and if there are any more british rifle grenades?
Thanks alot fellas

Harrison,
pics are few and far between but i can give you some other info if it helps.
My grandfather served in Burma and he often refers to rifle grenades as one of the worst things they were issued.
the main one they used was a cup discharger that attached the the bayonet lugs (they were still issued the SMLE EY rifle until early 1945) into which a mills bomb with the pin removed was placed. a special round was then used to launch the grenade. this system proved very inaccurate so was rarely used.
He was trained on the later rifle grenades, but they were never issued. the PIAT was already in use, and Japanese tanks were no match for that or the 2-pdrs they already had.
regards
Joe

The one you should look for is the No 68 grenade. The No 75 Hawkins was either hand thrown or used as a mine. I do have a photo of the No 68 in one of my reference books but I'm unable to scan it at the moment.
