Hi guys.

I am trying to get hold of a 1/16 MG-34 - plastic, metal, resin, whatever - to use with my recently aquired Tamiya 1/16 Marching German Infantryman (All the other figs I have in this scale have MG-42s and I want to build this one a bit differantly).

Does anyone have one they want to trade? Or do you know if I can get one from somewhere - preferably locally?

I recall seeing a 1/16 German Weapons set in an old Dragon catalogue which included the MG-34. Does anyone know if this set was ever released?

Thanks for any help you can offer.

Alan Farre

Hi Alan,

Hmmmm tough one... the DML kit you are refering to is 3824 - GERMAN INFANTRY EQUIPMENT

I seriously doubt you are going to find this kit in SA, although you might try George Winship ( [email protected] ). I suspect he is the only person importing DML at the moment - last I heard there wasn't an official agent although they were in talks with someone, dunno who though... of course the other thing is that I suspect its OOP...

Try your LHS for the Verlinden # 0794 German MG 34

Most LHS's these days seem to import the odd bit of VP... I know my local in Tyervalley Centre (Boyz & Mens Hobbies - Tel 021 914 8688) keeps the odd bit... they may be able to source something for you... else you'll have to bring it in yourself...

Let me know if you get it or if you need any advise locating it overseas...

Thanks for the reply.

Have e-mailed George to see what he can do.

Will let you know how it turns out.

Aaaargh!! Both kits are out of production. So if anyone out there has a 1/16 MG-34 they want to trade (unbuilt or built, damaged even). Drop me a line.

Which overseas vendors have you tried? Just to narrow my search from the start...

BTW, Verlinden still has their MG 34 in the catalogue... http://www.verlinden-productions.com/vp_htm_0601_1200/0794.html

And it doesn't appear in the planet-VP catalogue - plant-VP handle all the discontinued VML lines...

I would suggest you contact VML via this portal http://www.verlinden-productions.com/contact.html to find out if it's OOP....

Hmmm - checked your suggested links; seems the MG-34 is OOP... oh well. Hell, might just try SBuild one, but that's for a rainy day...

BB,
I am looking for the same gun for the same figure (go figure, LOL).

I have ordered it form Great models.com

I t was listed as "limited" availability. They still haven't shipped it, my order status says "searching".

I was wondering if we could "Scratch-bash" this with the MG-42 from the kit? Are the recievers that much different? From the barrel back would it take only slight modification? Others feel free to chime in.

Have you read the review for this figure on the PMMS website?

http://www.perthmilitarymodelling.com/reviews/figures/tamiya/tam36307.htm

The spure with the machine gun looks promising.

Might have to use the cover nad the pistol grip and scratch the rest.

I will let you know what I come up with .

I found some great photos that would help in the conversion of the MG42 to an MG-34

I came acorss the folowing while browsing the Andrea Miniatures site today... only 2 problems with it though...

1) It's a MG-38 and not a 34
2) It's 90mm, which is about 1/18, and not 1/16 (which is pretty close to 120mm)

S8-A22 MG 38 and Magazines 90 mm

p.s. Craig.... welcome to "The Springbok Club" feel free to pop in as much as you like.

(Been out of the loop for a while... )

A scratchbuild (or conversion from the MG-42) looks like the best option for the time being - I think the stock is the same (?) and receiver does seem similar, so... Barrel could be tricky.

Thanks for the link to the MG-34 pix - will be very handy for when I get to the project (prob not soon tho :-) ).

I have a 1:15 MG34 in an RC Tiger.. I could attempt to make a copy of it, but it'll need some cleanup though..

Hi Alan

I recently bought the 1/16 Tamiya Static King Tiger. From looking at the pics posted I might be able to help you, I thing I've got the MG you are looking for (meaning I've got one spare not sure if it is the right one). Phone me at 018 297 8893 or 0824565670 so I can get your adress and I'll pop it in an envelope and post it to you, and I don't want anything in return for the favour.

Regards
