I was thinking about opening a hobby shop and a supplier told me that I had to be in magazine listings and advertisements for your model shop in the hobby press.

I think I know what magazine listings is and it's a AD somewhere and to be in a Local Hobby shop directory with finescale Modeler.

But I am clueless about advertisements for my model shop in the hobby press is about.

I would think that where you advertise is your own business.. I would think that most suppliers dont care a hoot if you are in the FSM directory... Their first thought would be how much of their product can you move... .

Personally, I'd tell that "gentleman" who told you you HAD to do anything to go kick stones.. Then advertise whewre you think it will do the most good.. Phone book is usually a safe bet.. Try the yellow pages, your local newspaper would be a second though.. Even as far as hanging signs on poles might even work for you..

I wish you all the luck in your venture if you chose to open a store..
