I've seen this word, or a variation of it, used many times in reference to German AFV's. From the context that I've seen it used in, I take it to mean tools, stowage, etc. that are stowed on the vehicle. Am I right or is there another meaning? I've tried using several web translators and can't come up with anything.

It is the spaced armor hanging on the sides and turrets of tanks. It's purpose was to detonate any rounds fired at the vehicle before it actually struck the armor.

Schuerzen, the literal German Translation is "Aprons" which most likely is referring the armored skirts that you see on the panzer IV's and stug Iv's

Boy, that was fast! Thanks. I guess if I had of spelled it correctly I would have gotten a hit on the translators that I used.
