Dog days of summer are here in a big way. How hot must it get before model kits and their decal sheets sustain damage and/or warping due to excessive heat for kits stored in garages, attics, storage facilities etc.....?

Wow, feeling the heat in the Hoosier state, too? I think your kits will be fine, no matter where you store them. The decals however, are another story. If you are going to store kits in a hot attic or damp basement I would suggest taking the decals and filing them somewhere with a stable heat and humidity, be it summer or winter. I am getting ready to move my stash to the attic and it is really hot up there. Going to take out the decals before they go upstairs.

I always store my decals filed away and labeled ... just in case.

This is the way I take care of my decals and I never had a problem since. You Knoe those desiccant silica gel packs you get in cloths and shoes, they also come in just about most thing now. Anyhow I'll put my decals in a zip-lock baggie and throw in one or two of the gel packs. I was lucky as my sons girlfriend once worked in a clothing store and brought me a large bag full. They really do cut down the humidity and moisture. I say give'em a try...
