There is no "best brand." All companies have good kits and not so good kits. What are you looking at buying? If you can give us a few kits to compare or recommend, we will be able to do that. Your question is a little too broad.

You need to be more specific in what you are asking.

Your question is like asking who makes the best car without telling us what kind of car you are looking for. You'd get a different answer depending on whether you were looking for a sedan, sports car, pickup truck, SUV, or hatchback.

Every model brand has winners and every model maker has losers. To pick one brand as superior would not mean that every kit they make would be of top quality. You would be best asking about specific kits, such as comparing AFV Club, Academy and Tamiya's M10.

Hi Blazer, if you ask about a specific model you want to build, you'll get a much more accurate response from people who actually build the model. As already stated, quality varies alot within the different brands. I've seen some real stinkers from one particular brand, and also been impressed with some other models the same company put out, go figure.

Welcome to Armorama by the way!

The best Panzer I kit is by a Japanese company called Tristar. They make two variants, the PzKpfw I Ausf A (35003) and PzKpfw I Ausf A late (35008). These are two of the nicest 1/35 scale German armor kits available. I highly recommend either kit. I have the initial version.

Here is a link to the Perth review site for the Tristar panzers: http://www.perthmilitarymodelling.com/reviews/vehicles/tristar/tristar.htm.

Dragon recently released several PzKpfw I Ausf B kits. One is a regular light tank, the other a DAK version. I do not have either one, but I have seen the regular one and it is a nice kit. Both have received good reviews.

Here is a link to reviews of the two Dragon panzers: http://www.perthmilitarymodelling.com/reviews/vehicles/dragon/dragon.htm

Italeri also made a PzKpfw I Ausf B. This one was available in three body styles: light tank, command track and self-propelled anti-tank gun. Testors and Zvezda both reissued the Italeri kit at different times. Decent kits that have been surpassed by the Tristar and Dragon offerings. I've got the light tank version and it is OK.

Alan is the other company that makes a PzKpfw I. I have the PzKpfw I Ausf F (#007). Another decent kit and one of the better quality Eastern European kits on the market. Not as "shake and bake" as the Tristar or Dragon kit, but it looks solid.

Masterbox Ltd. also did a series of PzKpfw I kits. Mark Smith (aka Gunny) did a series of reviews on the Masterbox Ltd. kits here on our review site.

I do have- but not yet built- the Dragon Panzer I Afrika Korps kit! Just because it is in the desert colours! If I had wanted to put it in any other front, I would most certainly have chosen the Tristar kit!
Cheers and happy modelling!
