"Eland 60 and Buffel APC's on patrol in the Townships as part of the internal stability control operations of the SADF in support of the Police. Most likely a "show of force" patrol with armoured cars and APC's. Note 60mm BL mortars removed, but 7.62 co-axial MG's installed as well as topmounted MG"

Was the topmounted MG in this picture also a 7.62? Who was the manufacturer of the MG?

Thanks guys... I suppose the million dollar question now is whether these are made in 1/72 scale... :-)

P.s. Welcome back Vorster

p.p.s. sa_bushwar... great site! It really is a wealth of knowledge! I hope you don't mind, but I gave it to folks as a reference for the SiyaAfrika campaign...

Hi Rudi

Sorry, missed this thread. Aeroclub makes .30 Cal Brownings in 1/72 scale and at a very good price GBP0.90 for two (Hannants also stocks them).

Hope this helps
