Can anybody tell me if Model Mast Enamel paints and Model Master Acrylics are about the same color? For example an instruction calls for Sand, FS33531. I think that's an enamel color. I don't like using enamels so I get their acrylic, 4720. Is that about the same color? As long as the name, "sand" is the same?

Rodger... be careful just using any Sand... MM make about a dozen sands...
Testors, the manufacturers of MM, match their paints to the U.S. Government Federal Standard (FS) - FS33531 is actually "Pale Stone".
The enamel of FS33531 is 1706 Model Master - Sand FS33531 (1/2 Oz)... The acrylic equivalent of that is E6213 Sand...
Here's a handy conversion link for the FS colours... FSC
hope that helps...

Testors sells many paint under these names:
- Model Master
- Pactra
- Floquil
For Model Master, there are 2 paints: Enamel and Acrylic in 1/4 oz., 1/2 oz. bottles and 3 oz. spray cans and in Gloss or Flat color, also MM paint markers available in some colors.
There is over 200 colors for MM Enamel paint and over 250 colors for MM Acrylic paint. Over a half of MM paint matchs the Federal Standard color chart, but the MM Enamel and the MM Acrylic are not the same code name, fortunately, they are the same color but MM Acrylic is more color available than MM Enamel and Enamel II. In counterpart, MM Enamel has more of the ANA and RLM color standard, also Russian aircraft color.
For sand FS33531: MM Acrylic 4720 - MM Enamel 1706
Tarok gives you a good link to FS color matching, there is another link here:
