I was just watching on TV how a lot of these paint by number companies have gone out of business, for lack of interest, or not having any interesting subjects, well for one reason, or another.

To what I was thinking if somebody knew how to contact one of them to see if they could draw backgrounds of war scene's for our models, or maybe just desert, or whatever they were faced with during the wars that would look good for a backdrop for our models. They can do it in 1/35, or 1/72, and now it's coming up 1/48 scale drawings, then we could paint in the colors, then set our model in front of a beautiful backdrop.

I know a lot of people don't have access, or the knowledge, to be able to make their own with a copiers, but everyone of us do have the knowledge to paint by numbers, then all of us would have pretty backdrops for our models to either just take pictures with or set permanent for all times.
I guess I must be the only person that don't have access to a copier machine to make my own backdrops.
What do you think, does this sound like a good idea to anybody?

I guess nobody got to watch that antiques road show, where they had some paint by number paintings that were real beautiful, that could hang like any good painting.

How come nobody will answer, I'm not talking about those pictures of the horse or clown quality, I'm talking of the ones like they showed on antiques road show that had the quality of your finer paintings with the right painter doing them, and I think most of us have them capabilities.

That had the possibilities of a beautiful scenery, nobody else has an opinion, let me know if this is far fetched or not, I sure would like to hear anybodies opinion good or bad.

Having learned a little about the aplication of paint and blending and having donea few of those paint by numbers (many, many years ago), I have come to realize it's the painter who would make the difference. In any outlined painting, you would have a hard edge between the colors unless the painter had the skill to blend then do highlights and shadows to get the effect you are hoping for.

There are a number of commercial backdrops available. IIRC, Michigan Toy Soldier had some. You can always get travel posters or download pictures of the scenery you want.

I always could draw, and paint when I was younger, and had access to all the art equipment at school, my weak points were vehicles, and human feet, I could draw ships fine, but not cars, or tanks.

Animals were easy, same with trees, oceans, lakes, or houses, but if I had to draw a person I had to hide the feet with an animal in front of them or something in front of them.

Thats why I wanted somebody else to do the drawing, I had the whole school filled with my work, that I had done in a few months, so I guess I can do it again, and I thought it would be a lot easier if somebody else done the drawing, and the way everybody else does these models, they could do the same with these pictures.

It will be just dropping back from 3 to 2 dimension is all.

Those backdrops at Michigantoy soldier, just how do you find them.

This is interesting to me as well. My Dad does paint by numbers in Acrylic and Oil. He makes very realistic scenes by paint mixing. And has researched most mfgr's.

The company called DIMENSION makes the majority of all paint by number kits.

INK-A-DINK-A-DO is the other...
