Any idea if there's a Russian T54/55 kit out there in the market?

Here's the kits available in S'pore:

1) Trumpeter T-54B ( item 00338 )
2) Trumpeter T-54A ( item 00340 )
3) Trumpeter T-55 w/ KMT-5 (item 00341)
4) Trumpeter T-55 model 1958 ( item 00342 )
5) Trumpeter T-55 model 1958 w/ BTU-55 (item
00313)
6) Tamiya T-55A ( item 35257 )
7) Italeri T-55 Soviet Tank ( item 6427 )
8) Skif T-55A ( item MK221 )
9) Lee T-54/55 ( item ? )

Apart from these, there are countless conversions available but they are hard to come by in Singapore.

Cheers

I think the best T-55 out there is the Tamiya one.

I saw the in-box of the trumpeter ones, they are lagging far behind... Especially their tracks, really really stiff and lack exquisite details.

but they're cheap.

One fine day, i'm gonna get the Tamiya T-55...I just love the look of that tank.

I agreed with Danny on Tamiya's T55, got some of the best reviews in some other forums. Been dying to get one as well but the prices are quite steep.

:P

Thanks guys.. Oh.. and special thanks to Desmond for the list.

Haven't heard of Skif and Lee though.. But I'll have to agree that Tamiya make some good scale models. That's undeniable. But the price is also an undeniable fact that it's expensive.

Well, the only place i saw it the cheapest (at $34 or $37) was at the cheap shop at sunshine plaza..

Now, i REALLY regret not getting that kit that day. I do not know if the owner restocked the kit of not.

I don't know if that's the shop I went to. (The one that has a lot of unpainted kits.) But I didn't really see the stash they have there. Mostly Gundam (not my interest) though. :-)--

There was never really a good T-55 kit produced until Tamiya came out with theirs which created quite a storm in the modern armour modellers community. The 2nd best was the ESCI T-55, which is now out of production but is recently reboxed under Italeri label.

Here's my Tamiya T-55 featured in missing-lynx website:

Yeah, I saw that at Sunshine Plaza as well and told Bernard to reserve it together with DML's new Sherman. Talking about this, time to give Bernard a call tomolo.

Cheers!

As every modern armour modellers know, no other brands currently available can compete with Tamiya T-55. Here's a review on the Tamiya T-55 on PMMS website.
