Patrick shouldn't there be a Surgeon General warning somewhere about how smoking is hazardous to health. Very, very nice figures (no reference to your body of course) as usual.

Not often one gets to comment on the fine work of a Master builder but here's my go at it. The color of the bullets of the bandolier on the chap with the MG 42 (I think) seems to silver. Aren't the casings brass colored?

'Master builder' ? Aaaaawww shucks....I'm flattered. Thanks. Don't think I've hit that mark yet.

Germans, stereotyped as 'methodical' are prepared for anything...even werewolves. Hence the silver bullets. OK, OK I know you're not buying it......Actually they are brass colored on the actual figure but the lighting did alter things somewhat. My camera comes with 6 MP but it's still a cheapo make which doesn't allow me to capture 'true color'. A slightly darker green tint would bring everything nearer to the color of the actual figures and tank. My earlier one with 2.1 MP but of much better quality conked so I rushed out to get this one to keep my work going. Still getting the hang of things and perhaps will be able to get the tint right soon.

So....you finally did it ( read your replies elsewhere ). Going into the food biz ? ( others reading this wouldn't understand ). You still have e-mail ? Haven't heard from you for a while. Hang in there.

Regards
Patrick

Thanks man. Not always as in 'usual' do I get something right. Accidents do happen and I've had to make 'repairs' before. There were times I have to clean a whole painted part and re do.

Just how do I get pics into the dio forum ? And where is the dio forum anyway ? Learned how to post pics here thanks to 'Beach' but still cacat elsewhere.

Oh...cerita plenty but just no time to pay a visit here. I was kept busy with some commission work and did one a/c for sale on auction. These just completed figures ( Germans here and Americans in my gallery ) are meant for a 'small' auction sale while I wait for more commissioned projects to arrive. Also had to spend some time with the kids. Blink and they grow up fast without your noticing.

I'm itching to start on an F4U-1 Corsair after this break or maybe the StuG III and tank riders which are screaming to be built....or perhaps the carrier Akagi A6M2 Zero.....but the Malaya Brewster Buffalo looks tempting......then again, the 6 boxes of figures have to be done to make space as I've no room for the 5 unbuilt 1/6 scale vinyl figures..........and then there's my long forgotten stash.....will never be able to build all at this rate. Gila, eh ? That's my cerita. I think this is what pening lalat is like......

patrick, to post in the dio forum is easy...

1. from armorama homepage, near the top header, select forum.
2. once in the forum page, scroll down. at the bottom you'll see 'CREATE NEW TOPIC'. select diorama, and then click submit.
3. then just put your writing and pics as usual, just like what you did in our KakiModel forum.

btw .. your dio title is very catchy la..... nice.....

Thanks guys.

I'll try the dio forum one day when I come up with a good one. This one isn't a dio. The 4 figures are on a small base and the Sherman just sits in the background. Tipu kuat.....

Thanks Allan

You're the leading figure 'sifu' and your positive feedback is encouraging. I've seen your gallery and was inspired by your work. I'm fairly new and don't come here often either so I'm wondering whether this is the first time we are hearing from you ? If you'd care to visit more often I'm sure things will start to pick up. Great masters are sorely missed. Btw, do you know where I can get 1/35 scale figure insignias and badges in decal form ?

Hi Patrick

Insignia is available in two forms - decals and photo etched, from the following producers

decals - Archer and VP
photo etched - eduard (top quality but pricy) and old nimix (a bit thick) and lion roar. Lion roar will be the one I recommend as it is reasonably price and accessible in M'sia - Miniature Hobby.

Hope it helps.

Thanks Allan

I'm more of an out of the box builder and I can't recall buying aftermarkets before. Would appreciate more info.

Floogen has given me the archer website and I like what they have. Before I start to abuse my plastic ( they're pricey but essential ), are those decals as we know them or dry transfers ? I'm looking for decals as I assume they conform to the figures' contour better. I figured the transparencies of the dry transfers might be too stiff to allow me to rub on the design accurately.

I haven't tried looking up VP yet but Squadron from whom I get supplies have only dry transfers for 1/35s from this manufacturer. Decals for larger scales from them are available though.

Do you mean I can get Lion Roar products from the local outlet you mentioned ? I'd appreciate some links or sites of suppliers from whom you have purchased before as this eliminates the uncertainty of whether they entertain Malaysian credit card orders.

Hi Patrick,

I hardly mail order coz' too pricy. I did most of my shopping when I go overseas business trip, or attending any international figure show. So, can't help you much in mail order. You can check out Sentinel or Colorado sites, who mainly specialised in figures which you may find what you need. Another reason I try stop buying kit coz my current figure stock (metal and resin figures) will last until my next generations.....

Some tip for you which I leanrt from others.

The best way of applying dry transfer insignia is to apply it onto a transparent overhead projecter slide, then use x-knife and trim it, then glue it to the figure. This way you will have full control and the end result is awesome. This is how Calvin Tan does it

Decal, I used to use it now lesser as you will need to apply a matt coat after use, or else it is ending glossy or satin. Again trim the excess edge before apply

P.Etched - this is popular and very nice detail. Only thing you need to makesure is to bend the PE to fit the area nicely without an obvious gap appear

Last but not least, use putty and sculpt it to the figure then paint it hand free. Cheap and nice but need a steady hand

I wil be out this whole week therefore may not reply to you.

Good luck.
Allan
