Don't know where to post it actually, so sorry if this is not the right place.

Today The Netherlands has FINALLY got an official VETERAN-DAY to remeber ALL OUR VETERANS (we had only a remembrance for WW2 vets).

In my nearby family and friends I know veterans from The First Gulf War, UN missions in Cambodja and in Kosovo / The Balkans. I know how important this is for them...

I know there are also some Dutch vets on Armorama.

I want to show my respect and say thank you for what you guys AND girls did!
Thanks for standing on the wall so we could sleep in peace!

Thank you also, who are not with us anymore..

A special thanks to the Dutch vets from UN mission in Libanon, late seventies, for that's something our country almost seemed to forgot.

THANKS!

I am sorry to say, but it seems to me that at least for the last decade the non-WW II Vets were involved. It only was combined with the 5th of May celebrations. They have taken part of the national parade for years.

And it was already decided that after the death of Prince Bernard a new day, Veterans Day would be created.

And the Lebanon mission was one of the most famous (it was actually the first one I have heared of. It has been burried a little of late under the barrage of recent UN missions (Bosnia, Kosovo. Macedonia etc. etc.).

That said, I still thank those who have served us and those who are still serving (no matter what nationality).
