Just saw the trailer for the upcoming release. HOLY COW !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Now mind you, I'm an old guy. I grew up with the 1933 version. I rate it along with the old Universal Frankenstein, Wolfman, Mummy, and Dracula movies as must have. The 1976 version well we nick named it "Kinky Kong" and viewed it at best as second rate. This one looks like it will be a truely great remake one deserving of the title "King Kong"

If you're going to build a wall to keep Kong out, why put a gate in it big enough for him to get through???

Steve, I believe the original was made in 1938, and yes it was an all time favorite of my old ass also.
Always watched it on the Saturday morning horror flicks.
The trailer seems to follow the original storyline, only I don't know if I like Jack Black as Carl Denum.
I'll wind up buying it as soon as it comes out anyway, the FX look amazing.

OOOOps, sorry Steve just looked at the VHS box art and you're right 1933 RKO pictures.

I saw the trailer for the trailer. To see the whole thing would have meant dealing with some "reality" Average Fear Survivor Apprentice show, No thanks.

I saw the trailer last night and I am so glad they set the film in the same time period as the original. Nothing seemed more stupid to me (and there was much to choose from) in the original than having the huey gunships fly strafing passes at Kong when they could have hovered out of his reach and shot the big monkey full of holes. If the trailer is an accurate indication of the film's quality, it should rule the movie universe when it comes out.
On a side note, I was lucky enough to see the trailer on CNBC so I didn't have to risk rotting any of my brain with reality dreck and picked up a few decent stock trading tips instead.
