Hi all!

I will spend a few days in Dubrovnik (Croatia-Hrvatia) next week and wonder if there are some interesting locations to visit there! Museums, historical places and local model shops as well!

I hope there are some Croatian modelers at Armorama who can give me some good advices!

Thanks for reading!

I would advise on taking a guided tour trough the city. There is so much to see there and I guess the best thing would be a guide to tell you all the details on the history of the old town.

If you will be spending more time in Dubrovnik and Croatia I would also suggest taking tours to the islands; Mljet, Hvar, Korcula... wonderfull nature. Trip to nearby small town of Cavtat or Ston would be great as well. Oh, I could go on and on... and no, I'm not working in Croatian tourist board. :-)

Anyway, Dubrovnik is just wonderfull and I'm comming back there every year. In fact I was there just last month... :-)

As for the hobby stores; I don't know if there are any. But believe me, you wouldn't want to waste your time on that when in Dubrovnik... and that's comming from a "big time" modeler. :-)

If you need any more info, just shoot me a PM.

Mario.

The best part of the town is the walk around the completely preserved defensive wall but, be warned! There are only two places to get on and off the wall! Ant the stroll is not short, but worth every drop of sweat (and it's bund to produce a lot of sweat- expect temperatures in the 30 celsius range.
Try and see if there is a tour to Prevlaka- it's border country, but has an extremely well preserved complex of austro-hungarian fortifications.
As Maki said, the surrounding countryside and the islands are also well worth a visit, especially Mljet!
A point of interest is Ston- it's on the isthmus (sp?) of the Peljesac peninsula and also boast very well preserved fortifications.
As for model shops, I know there aren't any specialised, but you might be lucky in one of the local toy shops.

have a great time- It's a beutiful city!!

Cheers,
Tvrtko

Thanks Mario and Tvrtko!

I took good notice of what you said! It's great you took the time to write about Dubrovnik! I'll be there in a few days now and it seems the weather forecast is good for the next week!

A bientôt!

Jean-Luc
