I'll be there. I'm registered for Troiani's seminar on Sunday morning. I have offered to volunteer for some time as needed, but I don't know if they'll need me.
The Maine state line is about 1.5-2 hours from Boston, and that will show you a massive set of strip malls in Kittery. Head past that for more scenic stuff. Route 1 is nice but a local road. If you go another hour or so, you can get to LL Bean in Freeport. Taking most exits off !-95in Maine will get you to various small coastal towns.
North of Boston, off Route 128, are Gloucester and Rockport, the former is a fishing town and the latter is a nice little artsy place.
Heading south on Route 3 for a couple hours will get you to Cape Cod. If you do this, either take route 6A through the smaller towns on the northerly edge of the peninsula or stay on Route 6 and go out to Eastham/Orleans and points north. Taking any eastern side road from here to the tip in Provincetown will bring you to the most beautiful beaches. It's all protected land as part of the National Seashore and not spoiled by boardwalks and development. Do not take Route 28. It's a heavily commercialized stretch of road with very heavy traffic.
West of Boston, taking I-90 to I-495 north will take you to Marlboro, home of one of the best hobby shops, The Spare Time Shop. Major Rob was a regular when he was stationed out here and Kkeefe goes there regularly, too.

And if I was still stationed there, I'd have hooked you up with a ride on an Abrams or something.
