Just wanted to give you guys who have a Big Lots! near them the heads up that they are slowly starting to carry plastic kits in their stores. They've had 2 kits for a long time now, a dump truck and a big rig kit in their stores and I've been keeping an eye on them to see if they'd carry anything else.

Well, yesterday the wife and I were in there and I saw they had several different 'new' kits, mainly Testors kits (Corvette's and Firebird's) but this could be a good sign of other overstock kits to come in the future. I also saw they had the Polar Lights Hulk and Spider-Man kits there, picked up the Spider-Man kit for the heck of it and the fact that for $3.99 ya can't go wrong. lol

Might be worth a trip to your nearest Big Lots! to see what they have, would like to see them get that Polar Lights Godzilla kit in for $3.99.

Hi guys

I have a friend who works for the local Big Lots. So I made a quick phone call. I've been told that Big Lots is a outlet store. Now I'm not real sure what that means, but the way it was explained to me is the store buys out stock from other stores. They don't really keep the same stuff all the time. Just to be sure I think I'll vist my friend at work.

That's what Big Lots is Harry, they sell overstocks from other stores at a nice and sometimes deep discount. I noticed they started adding model kits to their shelves a couple of months ago but only had the two trucks. This weekend they had a ton of Testors model cars and the Hulk and Spidey kits, so I'm hoping they sell well and start getting their hands on some more kits.

Best part about BL is we don't have to wait for a 50% off sale for a good price if they have good kits. lol

Way back when, I mean waaaay back, Big Lots used to be Pic'n'Save in Southern California. In those days, they carried quite the selection of kits. I built a number of the Italeri kits (in the orange Revell boxes) and some 1/700 waterline stuff. Those 1/35 scale kits went for $2-$3...

Taking you all on a wayback trip,
Mika

I remember that, back in the early/mid 80's. You could pick up the Revell/Italeri 7.5cm Pak 40 and 76.2mm Zis-3 guns for $.75 each. Marder III's, Crusader's, and PzKpfw IV's for something like $2.99 a piece. I used to blow my allowance there all the time.

The Big Lots here in Northern California used to be McFrugal's which I think used to be Pic'n'Save before that. I've seen the same Testors car kits during the past couple weeks at our local Big Lots as well.
