Hi all
I was wondering if any of the members here at Armorama are Japanese or if there is anyone who can read/speak Japanese.
I collect WWII / Korean War memorabilia and just picked up a WWII Japanese personal effects bag. I was hoping I could find someone who could tell me just what it says on the bag.
Here is the best I could do with scanning it. I converted it to gray scale and boosted up the contrast to try to make it as readable as possible. A little difficult with the cloth, age, and wearing out of some of the ink.
There is also one large printed line on the other side which I havn't scanned off yet and figured I would wait and see what I can find out about this one first.
I appreciate any help I can get. I would be thrilled to know just what this bag says.
Take a look and thanks everyone.
Wayne

I don't, but I have an "e-friend" who does. I'll see if I can get him to look at it. He's in Japan so he might not get this for a while.

Hey Wayne

I also know someone that can translate this. I can contact him next time he's on MSN.

Thanks guys, I really appreciate all the help I can get.
I tried a few sites for translating and Japanese writing and I just have had no luck on my own trying to figure this out
I'll go ahead here real shortly and post a scan of the other side of the bag too. Maybe I can get both sides translated at the same time

Thanks again,
Wayne

Here is a scan of the other side of the bag.
It is a lot simpler than the first side. One large set of symbols and then the small box. I believe the empty part of the box is where the soldier would put his name or identification of some kind. What the big word says
