Thanks for the comments guys.
Loved the Rolling Thunder diorama Bradley, if i had known you were going i couldve aranged an armorama meet up, next time hey.
Was a bit disapointed that i missed out on first due to the fact i didnt bring along documents which go towards your scores, everyone else had them just not me, hell i didnt even realise i needed them (documents being referance material or kit instructions), although i will say i think its a bit silly that the winning model has seemed to be judged on documents rather than the model itself.
Oh well, i had a good time.
Cheers

Hmmm - I guess what I take from the difference from 1st and 2nd is that water beats flight.

I did the OD for your diorama and I have to say that I question decisions made. From what I can see I prefer your diorama.

Great photos, looks like a nice show.

Dave,

Your two models are better than what was awarded as place getter's, the rolling thunder dio 'Long Tom' is inaccurate for WW II, your Centurion dio is worthy, but did you use a conversion set to convert the Mk III into a MK V, or was this scratch built.

On another note:
I judge at these competitions but refused to judge at this years event, as I was trading at the model expo again this year and I entered in the Modified aircraft open catagory, with a Bristol Beaufighter MK IV in RAAF 30 Sqn markings.

Here is what the judges said about my model :-
Good
Good
Good
V.Good
Good

Judges comments:
Interseting weathering

Yet my model wins a 'Best Of Show' for and RAAF subject

IPMS is only one of several clubs that run the expo event but every model entered that wins 1st, 2nd, 3rd, are all commitee members of the clubs involved.

On another note, the C-47 display won best club event, I helped a friend build and complete the C-47 that is airbourne with the figures below it and lent a C-47 that I built for a museum for this display, I was a member of this club for several years.

For reasons I no longer belong to this club, will stay with me, but the club I belong too now is more on a social modelling principal and my small AM business partners are looking to setting up a club of our own.

In all the competitions I've entered a model in I've never gone looking for a trophey, my attitude is for the enjoyment and to help others with their models.

This is my model and the trophey, but as I said before I don't make a habit of collecting these, I just enter my model for the enjoyment of entering and helping others.

David good job and sweet photos. I didnt know they make you have documentation for dioramas. That sounds a bit silly to me. Is that the same rules here in the USA for ipms? I have won two of the local Ipms contests but am building something special for next year. Does anyone know where to get a copy of rules? Cheers Kevin

Morning poeples, Dave youve done good with the photos mate, and congratulations on your placings...tough luck about the imfo. sheets but they are part of the rules be it that they are only a very small component in the points total.. Judging is some thing I,ve done a lot of,all around Aussie and over seas mostly with figures. I,ve heard all the arguments about placings, mostly it comes down to alittle bit of bruised ego and pride. I did for several years judge at the Melbourne show but although not a member of any club I was privy to much of the organisation that went on and it was hard yaka and allways left to the few...As I understand things in IPMS imfo sheets are are standard competion requirements world wide. My own opinion I dont think that they are required but!!!.... As a judge I allways made it clear to entrants that they could could talk to me after all judging was completed, but the placing still stood..So to all those who in the future enter competition read the rules appreciate the effort gone to setting up your show, the thankless job the judge dose and learn to take it on the chin but come out for the next round..having learnt from it........ps as judge itis only my opinion one should not enter into any category in the show..you are a judge ....to just display your art is more fun.

Phil Walden......
