Folks,

What can I use to remove cyno-acrylite ("super-glue") residue from white metal?

I was happy assemblying a white metal figgie, attaching the arms, when SWMBO pulled one of those "come look here's" Anyway, it broke my concerntration and the arm came away from the torso and now I'm stuck with cyno on the ball and socket... Of course cyno only really works on a clean surface...

So, hence the question: What can I use to remove cyno-acrylite ("super-glue") residue from white metal?

I'm not sure if this is the right english word for it. Acetone should desolve super glue.

some nail polish removers have acetone in it and this will remove the glue without harming the figure. If your wife indirectly caused it use hers :-)

If not go to the chemist and buy a bottle of acetone and keep it handy. Just be cautious using it on plastic and resin as it will melt them.

Cheers

Thanks for the quick response, lads.

That definitely rings a bell from the hobby shop days... damn, I wish I had paid more attention then... :-) :-)

Failing that, you could use debonder, which is available from most GOOD model shops or on-line.

Thanks Vinnie, unfortunately the concept "GOOD model shop" is not synonomous with with any LHS's in SA...

Just confirmed however that SWMBO does indeed have nail-polish remover, and by sneaky guilt-trip methods, I have re-appropriated it... :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-)
