Okay when it first happend, my divorce made me very depressed, but since then I have been able to buy all kinds of things my former never would have allowed. Take for instance today's purchase.

A Sig Arms model P-229 .40 S&W auto-loader. Double action, 12+1 capacity, manual decock, spare magazine, and get this ... a second free barrel! This one is chambered for Sig's own .357 sig. The shells are identical except the .357 is simply necked down to accomodate the smaller round. This means the magazines work for both. All for less than $600. Quite a deal.

I never would have gotten past the "Honey, have you ever thought about home safety?" when I was married, she hated guns.

You know why divorces are so expensive? Because they are worth it. The third Mrs. Keenan and I will be celebrating 9 years together next week. I honestly think if I had not met her I would be dead or in jail.
Back on topic: One of our first purchases for the first house we bought together was a Mossy 12 gauge pump with a pistol grip. Great lady...

Yep, there are silver linings.

as i live in england im curios to know why you bought a gun?? is it for protection or do you collect them?? the goverments trying to ban repilca guns over here . i used to work at heathrow on baggage screening and the amount of times we pulled americans off planes because of guns in cases was unreal . the arguments got heated when they found out we keeping the weapon and they would not get it back. funny most of them were from chicago or new orleans

David,

I don't want this topic to go downhill into a pro or anti gun rights debate but I will tell you why I bought mine, home defense.
When the some disgruntled crack addict kicks my front door in at 3 am, three things are going to happen: The ADT alarm system is going to call the police, my Jack Russell terrier is going to go nuts and I am going to lock and load. The family and I sleep upstairs. As long as whoever is in the the house stays downstairs, I don't have a problem. I would be the last person in the world to shoot someone over something I can replace at Wal Mart. However, when they get to the landing outside the bedrooms, there is going to be a problem.
There have been almost as many unsolved homicides where I live in Indiana, per capita, as Gary.

Oh, and anyone who has a weapon of any type confiscated in an airport deserves what ever they get.

Well you picked a good one. Sig produces one of the best handguns out there. Out of all the guns I own my Sig is my favorite.

I did alot of research before buying and I understand that Sigs are widely recognized as being very reliable, while maintaining accuracy and stopping power. My other choice would have been a Springfield XD tactical with a 5" barrel (due in large part to a girl I am dating who loves the springfields). Oh yeah, and dating is another one of those silver linings.

Concidering the fact that I carry one for work, I feel very secure knowing that if I have to rely on it it won't let me down.

I've put over 12,000 rounds through mine and it has never jamed or misfed.

I had a springfield lend lease .303 complete with battle sights and never been fired when i got her that was in Australia.I was on night shift and when i went to bed some idiot tried to break in my bed room window , when he was half way through I tapped him on the shoulder with the barrel he looked up to see me naked from the shower and a fully loaded .303 pointed into his drug haddled head the idiot put his hands up and fell two storys onto very sharp rocks. He left a lot of claret on those rocks I had a good laugh and slept like a baby. Now I live in a country where the cheif Judge said that burgelers should have more right to protect them from violent house holders.I GIVE UP

Eddie that's what I'd buy if I had the chance! Looks from the ribbing on the woodwork that that's a Long Branch one you've got, generally belived to be the best of the bunch. A lot of Long Branches were fitted up with sniper sights for this reason.
Since my missus would walk out if I bought a gun, & I live in a country thats absolutely paranoic about ordinary citizens owning firearms (it's Ok for gangsters & druggies to run about with Uzis & Ingrams of course), sadly this will remain a dream.

Don't have any handguns. These are just my .22 caliber rifles. It doesn't include the half dozen shotguns and 2 assault rifles but I don't have pics of those in my gallery
