Hi all,
I have had this error come up on my computer screen. And is really starting to annoy me.

Quoted Text

Windows
A fatal exception 0E has occured at 0028:C02748DE in VXD VMM (06) + 000028DE. The current application will be terminated
* Press any key to terminate the current application
*press CTRL+ALT+DEL again to restart your computer you will lose any unsaved information in all applications
Press any key to continue

It just randomly pops and I have no idea why.
Could someone with some computer expertise help me find out what is going on and how to fix it.
TIA

Andy,
The error messages that windows put out are very hard to nail down. But, from the looks of that one, there is an area of memory that may be corrupt. How old is your machine? Also, some program may be stepping on some other program.
This is what I would do:
1. Start keeping notes of what programs are running and what you are doing when the error occurrs. This may point you to a bad program.
2. If you can, get your memory checked. You mau need to replace a memory stick.
I wish I could be of more help.

Well I am guessing because you are getting the blue screen you have WIn98 or WinME. You should always specify the operating system. Next you need to tell us if you added any new equipment.

Here are a few links to help you out.

U may have the symptoms of a trojan or stealth virus. You need to create a clean boot up disk from another computer that is not infected. Then boot your computer with this disk and you should find a virus with your anti-virus program.

I would try removing that last stick of RAM that you installed. It could be bad or in some cases it could conflict with your existing RAM.

Win98 1st Ed was unstable the day it was released & MS put out an upgrade to 2nd Edition which helped tremendously. I used W98 2E for years & then finally jumped to XP Pro.

Anyway, when you take it into the shop, try to get the upgrade to 2E done also, if you don't just go higher -- I think W98 may be totally out of support, at least here in US.

Good idea John,
last night I scaned it for errors then defraged it and so far so good (touch wood) :-)
So hopeful that may have helped. I the problem still persists I will take it into a shop.
