Hey everybody,
I spent the past weekend redoing my model area and wanted to show you how it looks now.
These first 2 pictures are how it looked before I started. I was using some old, nasty kitchen base cabinets for my work bench. Were good but took up too much space for the amount of usable storage they gave me...

Here's the new layout. I replaced the cabinets with an old drafting table I got my hands on plus 2 Sears project carts I picked up on sale. Discontinued so I got then for half off....

This was well worth the effort to me. I've got more and better storage space and more floor space to move around in too.
I'd be curious to hear what you think of it.
Thanks,
Craig

Ciao Craig,
Don't take this the wrong way, but I see that I am not the only one that doesn't have the neatest hobby area around. I like the setup, though.
Ciao for now

I did the renovation thing as well two weeks ago. Now I can't find anyhting in the "clean." Your new work area looks really nice. Love the duct going out through the glass blocks.

Hey guys,
Thanks for the quick feedback.
No offense taken Rob .
At least if you're talking about the "before " pics. The "after" ones show a pretty neat room
Shaun, I specificaly had the vent aded to the glass block window when we put them in years ago just for that reason. Really cuts down on the fumes throughout the house. Plus my wife got me the spray booth for christmas years ago as a gift for the same reason. It's taking me some getting used to the new layout too. I have a couple more litle tweaks left to do but it should work out good.
Thanks again guys,
Craig

Your new layout looks good Craig. Lots of space.
Excellent idea, with the vent in the glass block window.
You're a lucky man Craig.

I'm currently working on the living room table. Not very popular with the wife, but that's just the way it is.
When the kids get a place of theier own, in 15 to 20 years, I'il build me a place like that.

I work in my bedroom. That's extremely unpopular with my wife. Congratulations on your new setup Craig. Wish I can have my own working room.

Now, where did you hide your stash of unbuilt model kits?

Argrillion,
All the models used to be on the black shelf unit.
Look at the picture of the drafting table. See that wood panel? It's actually a large storage area, divided into 2 sections with a door on each end. that's where all the armor kits now live . And all but the biggest figure kits are in a drawer in one of the project carts.
About the only thing left to do is to swap the fishing tackle box for more of those multi bin storage cabinets. The tackle box is where i keep all of my oil paints from when I would go to other guys homes to paint. Now it's gotten too heavy and unwieldy and takes up too much space.
Thanks again guys,
Craig

Nice idea with the storage units too...mine are currenltly only filled with screws and such.
