Hi guys,

Last minute submission here. Go easy on the figure, it is my first figure! Anyway, figure painting isnt as easy as i though.

This is the DML kit, the earlier one. I had alot of fun building this!

By the way, I submitted 3 pics into the campaign gallery but i cannot seem to get those 3 pics to be in a folder in my personal gallery!

Hi Danial

The 'mud' is done by mixing : Hamster bathing sand (sand that hamster loves to roll around in) + MMP powder(for the mud colour) + white glue.

I then used an old paintbrush and apply it on to the wheels.

For the tracks, i only use MMP powders.

Thanks !

Hi Ike,

For this model i did not use filters, i mix the camouflage colours with Tamiya "Buff" to lighten up the colours. I wanted to depict alittle faded camouflage.

Thanks guys!

Hey.. the scale for this DML kit? 1/72 I suppose?
Those tracks from DML aren't individual tracks right?

Hey Ike,

This is the 1/35 scale kit.

The tracks are indi-links. Typical of DML products.

There are two famous brands of pigments, MMP and MIG.

Pigments are basically in a 'powdery' form and is used to do weathering. Used properly, they can be used to depict mud, dust and grime etc etc.

Very nice King Tiger u got there Danny! Love the camo and also the weathering on the tracks & road wheels. Shd try this mmp stuff. btw, did u guyz know that Tamiya is coming up with a handy weathering kit. it looks just like womens' make-up kit (blusher). There's also another type (stick form). I tink i want to try these out if they're not expensive. Will drop by Tamiya showroom to see if they have brought them in.

Yup... I read about them in TMMI August Issue.. There are 2 sets of compressed pigments in three shades... A (Sand, Light Sand & Mud); B (Snow, Soot & Rust)

Those so called "stick form" are called "Weathering Sticks"!! :-) in Mud and Snow form (2 types so far) based on a glue-stick type dispenser..

Thanks Psyfool... do keep us posted if they brought them into Sg already.. Would love to know how much they charge for these makeup kits..

The track-links are quite hard to put together...

Before i glue them together, i 'stick' 6 links together and straightened them with a metal ruler then i brushed on the glue.

I like to work with 6 links and then glue up all the 6 links sections together to form a longer length.

The Tiger 2 spots 2 tones (Green and yellow or Brown and yellow), 3 tones (green, brown and yellow) and also the ambush scheme, basically its the 'polka - dot' pattern.

I think the ambush scheme came about because of some misinformation but i'm not too sure and i hate that scheme! i personally think it's ugly as hell so i won't paint my tanks in that scheme.

I think its a rip-off of your good money. We might as well get pastel sticks for a fraction of that Tamiya's cost!

Danial,

This kit is the older one, not the one with the 'magic' tracks.

This kit has no extras except for the engine grilles.

Pastel sticks? They're not crayons rite? I bought a box of 'Soft Pastel for Artists' from Popular. Is this it or did i get the wrong one. Have not tried it yet. I intend to use it for the first time on my Panther Type G Dio (in progress). Let's see how it turns out.

These sticks are like chalk... use a pen knife and scrib off the pastel and then you can mix it with water. After that you can just apply them on to your models.

Yea... try out and show us how your panther looks

Yup, they're like chalks and dont get the 'oil' pastels as adviced by fellow forumers in the international forum.

Thanx for the advise & tips. Still not sure which one I got though. My panther has just completed it assembly stage. I'll start on the painting soon and when the time comes for weathering, I'll find out how the stuff that I bought works.

Hey Psyfool... I've looked through your dios in your gallery again and realized most of your dios are of muddy groundwork. I use putty, mix them with paint+soil+junk for muddy groundwork. What do you use? Your method looks better than mine.. :-)

I use plastercine as base + fine sand most of the time. If you want to give a muddy feel, try making puddles, like water trapped in tracks made by the tanks. I use the glue usually provided in Academy kits to make the puddles..
