I would like to ask some advice, since I made a hash of my own attempt!

What would the process be to add tracks to a 1/72 scale armor?

I tried the following:

1. Assemble upper & lower hull
2. Paint upper hull, lower hull & tracks respectively
3. Glue (with superglue) the tracks (individual) to the lower hull

And that's where it all got

4. With the glue part, put glue on track and place on wheels.
5. Remove track from fingers, since the superglue has got a mind of it's own and find my fingers MUCH more attractive than the model!
6. Repeat steps 4 to 6 until fingers are covered with superglue, or track has lost all it's paint.
7. Walk around with superglued fingers for a few hours and repeat from step 1!

My Question:

What would be the correct process to do 1/72 scale tracks?

Glue everything with normal Tamiya cement and paint afterwards?

Any suggestions on this....

Humbly
Dieter

P.S. now I feel better after blowing off some steam!

Assuming you meant the link-and-length tracks in the current crop of 1/72 armor, I use a slow-setting liquid cement (Testors). It has a longer working-time than Tenax (or super glue), allowing me time to work the tracks around the wheels and drive sprocket. Then I touch up any damaged paint.

Use a slow super glue and a super glue accelerant -I paint the tank and wheels first then glue using a toothpic-why you finger have moisture that sets of the glue whereas the tracks do not hence they stick to you not the model. I hold it to the wheels then spray with the accelerate -glued track. I then paint track the next day-(makes sure the superglue is dry because I have ruined too many good brushes rushing to get them done in time for my customers

For me,

I always do the lower hull first. Totally finish the lower hull then install the tracks BUT i do not glue the upper and lower together until i installed the tracks.

This way i can have more space in working with the tracks.

1. Paint tracks, lower hull, wheels etc.

2. Glue tracks in with CA glue.

3. Paint the part of track that has CA glue. Paint in this part is normally smudged by the glue.

4. Mate upper hull to lower hull.

Thanks to all that have replied.

It seems that I follow the correct procedure but my superglue is reacting too fast...

I will try the suggestions that you guys and gals have made!

one more advice that I would like to give since I myself has messed it up in my latest model.

Try to put as little glue as you can to the tracks, since those model cement connet parts by actually metling them, thus if you put too much on the track (especially for 1/72 model) the teeth join will melt and you end up having some muddy looking thing there. (my poor t-34)

Don't know if you have it or not, but extra thin cement probably help as it won't leave much mark and tweezers defeinitely help too.
