Hilbert started a thread a few weeks ago when he saw that Academy have a 1/8 drum kit available. Having played drums meself, I couldnīt help but get one. I got one on Ebay (buy-now) from a Hong Kong guy for $10 plus $10.50 P&P airmail. It arrived 8 days later, which I was well chuffed with.
Anyways, Hilbert, Myself and one other are planning a small group build of this kit, starting August 1st, so if anybody else is interested in joining in, theres plenty time to purchase the kit in the meantime.
I took some pics of the sprues so you could see whats in the box. Also included in each image is a 1/35 figure to get a sense of scale.

The box art! Tempting?

The actual drum shells. Transparent plastic.

Clear plastic circles for the skins. The snare plastic is frosted which is a nice touch!

The drum rims for top and bottom of each drum.

The cymbals and drum seat. The two smaller cymbals are the top and bottom for the high-hat, and the two bigger are a crash cymbal and a ride cymbal. They look to be similar in size which is not very common. I probably will attempt to make the crash a bit smaller. They will need some sanding on the bottom as there is a very visible ledge. Donīt know why they have included a beatles decal for.this kit appears too modern to be used by the beatles.

Another chromed sprue with all the lugs, pedals and some of the stands and fittings for the cymbals.

The stand-legs for cymals, drum seat and snare. They are molded in position, so that will save trying to get angles right.

A small stage for placing the finished drum kit on. Holes are drilled so placement of drums can be fixed. This fixed set-up is how images of drum kits would appear in magazines but very un-natural for use. So if you want to use this stage for show only its OK, but if you want the drums to appear naturally set up, some filling and sanding is needed.

The first time ever I got a tube of glue in a kit. Now I know why they say, "glue not included".

Very unusual kit. The cymbals look quite convinsing.

That looks very very impressive, I thougt it should be a few pieces of parts but darn, that's a lot.

And my questions are, wich paint should I use for the cymbals? What Kind of color? Gold or something?
I agree with what Frank said about the cymbals.

And for the Chrome?
I've heard Model Master have some Chrome paint, and I have heard it isn't really chrome. More Silver.
Wich color is really Chrome??

Revell had some glue for Chrome parts, and I've found a magazine about Revell airbrushes and there's also a article about glues. they said I can use Revell Contacta Liquid Special for Chome and Transparent pieces.
Is this really true that I can use it for Chrome and for transparant pieces??
And they say also that you don't see the glue.
Is this also true

Many questions but I'm trying to build this kit as my best kit ever builded.

Btw , Frank nice pics.

I'd go for Tamiya titianium gold.

And for the Chrome?

The model master paint you refer to is called 'Chrome Silver' and is indeed more silver than chrome.
I'd probably use Alclad chrome.

It's still around, smells like vinegar ( and probably is acetate based ), but glueing ... I wasn't impressed with it. On the other hand.. it is true that it didn't leave marks on glass parts which weren't removeable.

So I guess that the glue isn't a very good option.
Then should a tiny drop of CA glue must do the work.

Where can I buy that??????
Can I also use Car Chrome? in a spraycan?

Nieuwenhuizen, at the oude binnenweg in Rotterdam has got alclad in stock. It isn't cheap.. but the results are stunning.

Good luck with all of that chrome. As for CA, be careful with it. It'll frost up your clear parts bigger than you-know-what if you're not careful. There is a canopy cement out there (I threw my out but I think it was Testor's) that will not show when dry.

Well another question.

How can I make the snares under the snare ??
I've tried with a wire but that is simply impossible unless I do it wrong.

Can somebody help me out.
I haven't any ideas anymore.
