Eddie Albert died this week. Although he was sadly best known for the forgettable TV show Green Acres, he also played in several good war movies, including the Longest Day. He was a bonafied war hero getting commendations for rescuing wounded men under fire at Tarawa.

To be honest, I think of him in The Longest Day ,ore often than Green Acres. It's interesting that so many WWII Vets, especially those who served in combat, became actors after the war. Lee Marvin, Eddie Albert, George C. Scott....those that I can think of off the top my head.

He and Ronald Reagan played in Brother Rat together.. Of course a forgetable movie unless you are VMI. I forgot about his service at Tarawa.
